The Language School's main goal is to promote the surviving Insular Celtic languages. The primary focus of our Celtic language classes is conversational fluency--writing and advanced literary forms will be taught later on in the program. In the future we intend to offer classes in the all six surviving languages (in their Modern, Middle, and Old forms) as well as several extinct Celtic Languages and languages that are relevant to Celtic studies such as: Gaulish, Cumbric, Pictish, Latin, Greek, Avestan, Sanskrit, Tocharian, Hebrew, Ancient Egyptian, Norse, and Old and Middle English.
In our attempt to fulfill our vision by teaching the six surviving Insular Celtic languages, we may have group guided classes wherein the teacher only guides the students.
If you would like to teach at OAT, check out the Prospective Teachers page.
